“Wanna Go Clubbing?” Had you asked me this question a little over a month ago, I would have looked at you and wondered whether you had completely LOST YOUR MIND. I have two kids and like to be asleep well before midnight! OMG, I hate that I just said that; I used to be fun! However, there is hope, for me and anyone else who values their sleep!! Calling all the mamas (but honestly, you don’t have to have kids to join) who want a great girl’s night out in Frankfurt dancing. But here’s the kicker: I want to start at 8 pm, not midnight! Ladies, MAMA GEHT TANZEN has your name written all over it!
What is MAMA GEHT TANZEN
Honestly, now that I think about it, I can’t believe this wasn’t done earlier! It’s a GENIUS idea. But let me give the credit where the credit is due! And this credit begins with Andrea and Anna, two moms from Wuppertal! The idea was simple: they were mums with kids, but, and this may come as a surprise to some, they were still individuals and wanted a night out! Crazy, I know! But they weren’t completely nuts and realised going out after 11 pm was never going to work; you can’t mute kids at 6 am like your alarm. So what’s a girl to do? DO IT YOURSELF! As a result, in January 2023, the first Mama Geht Tanzen party rocked out!
Since the original launch of the first Party in Wuppertal, the parties have set the mama world in Germany alight! Meaning that you can now find a party near you almost all across the country, as well as in Austria and Switzerland. And whilst the team has significantly grown in size, their essence hasn’t. They are all mums doing it for themselves and other mums!
MAMA GEHT TANZEN in Frankfurt
As previously mentioned, Mama Geht Tanzen fever has spread nationwide! And Frankfurt, or rather Hessen Rhein-Main, is no different!
Enter centre stage: Marit Pahl, Pilot and mother of two! A big fan of the Mama Geht Tanzen concept right from the get-go, she couldn’t wait for the parties to reach Frankfurt! Unfortunately, or fortunately for her, the parties didn’t seem to be reaching Frankfurt fast enough; thus, she took it upon herself to bring them to our fair city! And in November 2023, the first Mama Geht Tanzen, raised the roof at Fortuna Irgendwas. With tickets selling out within a minute, it was clear that mums were desperate for a girl’s night out in Frankfurt. Since then, there has been at least one party per month, with each selling out in minutes!
What to expect on this Girl’s Night Out in Frankfurt
To tell you the truth, I dragged a friend along, and we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. Would it be weird with mostly women? Would the music be good?
Well, let me tell you, we haven’t had that much fun in a long time! We danced and danced and danced!! The music was banging from the moment we arrived, and people were on the dancefloor! No, let’s hug the bar for the first hour and a half and then mosey onto the dancefloor. Nope, from 8 pm until 11 pm, the dance floor is heaving, but not in an awful you can’t move kind of way!
Currently, Mama Geht Tanzen has 5 “resident’ DJs. Meaning, that whilst you know you will always have a mix of music genres, you can rest assured that each DJ will bring their own flavour. Comforting for those of us who will go on multiple occasions!
In short, it’s a carefree, fun night out! And as Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin sang here, “Sisters are doin it for themselves.”
Mama Geht Tanzen in Hessen Rhein-Main
Marit understands that it’s not only the mums in Frankfurt who might need a night out but mums all across the region! Currently, there are parties in Mainz at Roxy and in Aschaffenburg at Cloud Seven. Find all current MGT parties happening around Hessen Rhein-Main
Good to know:
- Whilst men or, more specifically, partners are welcome to join, not many do, so it’s primarily women.
- Mama Geht Tanzen parties are currently hosted at Fortuna Irgendwo
- It should be noted that whilst there are around 600/650 tickets in Frankfurt, they tend to sell out fast, so you need to be quick
- There is no dress code, so you can wear what makes you feel most comfortable. Dancing free and without inhibition!
- The party offers a wide range of Music, from hip-hop to pop, 90s to indie and grunge. Importantly in our opinion, they do not play only one genre.
- In short, it’s 180 minutes of partying and unadulterated freedom!
