The Taunus is a picturesque region located just outside of Frankfurt, Germany, characterised by its natural beauty, charming towns, and recreational opportunities. It is also what some might consider to be ‘the burbs’…popular areas include (but are not limited to) Kronberg, Bad Soden & Oberursel

Oberursel attracts families with children attending FIS (Frankfurt International School). Of course, work location needs to be taken into account, too, when choosing a place to live. Oberursel also serves as a gateway for hikers and mountain bikers due to its proximity to many mountain trails. If hiking isn’t your preference, Oberursel’s Altstadt is charming and offers a less strenuous activity. The town is accessible by both U-bahn and S-bahn.

Kronberg is known to be one of the more expensive areas to live outside of Frankfurt.  However, it offers good amenities and an S-Bahn (s4) connection to the city. Additionally, Opel Zoo is located just on the outskirts.

Bad Soden is a spa town on Frankfurt’s outskirts and a very popular area for families.
