The Botanical Gardens, or rather Palmengarten, is an absolutely wonderful family day out! You can choose to go for a few hours or take your picnic and go for the day.

In the heart of Westend, it’s the perfect oasis to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.  Perhaps even escape to a tropical destination for an hour or two; imagination is not only reserved for little ones!  Moreover, there is plenty to keep the horticulturalist in your family entertained for hours!

Having said that, there are plenty of activities to keep little people busy, too!!  Head to the small lake, hire a row boat or pedal boat and make your way round the water while watching the fish popping up and down. Be sure to avoid the ducks bobbing along!

After that, make your way to the Palmen Express for a ride; the train winds its way through the garden (although please manage expectations, it’s only +/- 5 minutes), which takes you to the other side of the garden where you will find a great play area and in the summer months water sprinklers for the kids to run in (so be prepared and take plenty of sunscreen and swim gear!

On the premises, you find three restaurants and a kid’s kiosk to fill any rumbling tummies when the time comes.
