A stone’s throw from the Altstadt action sits Margarete Frankfurt. Lovingly named after the Viennese Architect, Margarete Schutte-Lihotzky, this chic eatery is a must-visit for anyone seeking a refined yet relaxed culinary adventure in one of Germany’s most culturally rich cities.

The Vibe

The vibe at Margarete is relaxed yet sophisticated, attracting a diverse crowd of locals, expatriates, and tourists. Whether you’re here for a business lunch, a casual brunch with friends, or a romantic dinner, the atmosphere adapts to your needs.

The restaurant is artfully divided into two distinct spaces, each meticulously crafted to highlight its unique character.  Step inside from Braubachstraße, and you’ll enter the bistro area with relaxed table setups and an industrial-chic concrete bar featuring a warm honey-coloured wooden countertop that spans the room.

If, however, you continue to stroll towards the back, you’ll discover the restaurant section, which offers a more upscale dining atmosphere and a patio that extends into the serene square behind.

Additionally, the area can be divided using large, luxurious linen curtains to create intimate settings for private events.

The Menu at Margarete Frankfurt

Margarete has three distinct menus: Breakfast, Bistro, and Restaurant. Breakfast is available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the Bistro and Restaurant are available from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Indeed, each menu offers a unique culinary experience tailored to different times of the day.

  • The Breakfast menu features morning favourites like croissants and jam, scrambled eggs or a more German-inspired Wiener Würstchen along with freshly brewed coffee and a variety of teas.
  • The Bistro menu offers a mix of casual yet sophisticated dishes, including comforting soups, crisp salads, artisanal breads, and light appetisers.
  • The Restaurant menu really shines in the evening with elegant offerings like succulent steaks, tender seafood, and flavorful vegetarian options paired with seasonal sides and an extensive wine list.

In addition to Margaretes three distinct menus, the restaurant prides itself on reinventing classic dishes and serving up new ideas from the kitchen.
