German Christmas markets aka Weihnachtsmarkt, are a beloved tradition that have been celebrated for centuries. And this year is no different!  So once again it is (almost) time to indulge in some Frankfurt Christmas Markets cheer!  The crisp fresh air (a dusting of snow perhaps), the mulled wine or baileys on the rocks, Christmas music and of course all the twinkling lights!

Christmas Markets: What to Expect

Typically, these Christmas Markets are held in the weeks leading up to Christmas and are a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit! And, visitors can expect to find a wide variety of goods, including handmade crafts, ornaments, and delicious food and drink.  If it’s your first visit and you are not sure what to eat and drink, be sure to check out our recommendations.

Undoubtedly one of the most famous Christmas markets in Germany is the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg. This market dates back to the 16th century and attracts millions of visitors each year.
